Media personality and influencer Sheila Gashumba is always out to claw out musicians' eyes any chance she gets. Being an influencer, Sheila believes she is huge in the music industry of Uganda. Recently, she came out to credit herself for making her ex boyfie Rickman famous. Sheila mentioned that most people knew him for his relationship with her rather than his music. Sheila seems to highly trust her opinion as she considers herself some music guru.
Of recent, Sheila has come out to mention that singer Mudra's music is actually bigger than his name, something she said he should try to fix soonest. While appearing on the NBS After 5, Sheilah said that Mudra’s music stands out so much. His presence is felt via his music than his brand. She mentioned that he has neglected the fact that he needs to create a brand for himself and has focused on creating brilliant music. This came as the program’s presenters wondered where artistes who emerged in the lockdown are now.
Sheilah said that those artists who emerged in the two year lockdown are now doing comedy on TikTok and they had already given up on music careers. Her co-presenter DJ Mercy then mentioned Mudra as one of those that emerged in this period and this is where she went ahead to give him a piece of her mind. She went ahead to say that whereas Mudra is still releasing hits, these are bigger than him.
“I have one problem with Mudra and it’s his music being bigger than his name. He has to really market himself and get his foot on the pedal firmly. But Atleast he is better than other artistes who sprouted due to the lock down. Those other artists who emerged in lockdown are now doing comedy on TikTok,” she said.
And truly after the reopening of concerts and the whole country, the staple artists regained their places, for example the liked of David Lutalo, B2C, Winnie Nwagi, Juliana Kanyomozi who were not so active in the stale two years are now having sold out concerts. She mentioned that this is because they had already turned into household brands and people's favorites.
The influencer also applauded the competition that has emerged in the music industry especially among male artists. She thinks this is good for the industry.
