Erik Ten Haag has verified that his first choice goalkeeper will return before Thursday after Cameroon's exit from AFCON competition.
Onana was part of the lineup for Cameroon which went qualified for the knockout stages of 2023 of AFCON but failed to defeat Nigeria in the round of sixteen with two goals of Nigerian player Ademola Lookman.
The Red Devils' first choice was left in bench for their clash against Nigeria by manager Rigobert Song despite playing every group stage game.
But Rigobert Song revealed that he benched him due to his team conceding six goals in the group stages.
Cameroon is now out of the AFCON competition, as Onana is preparing to make his return to Manchester United with Ten Haag verifying that his first goal keeper will return before Thursday.
"Andre Onana will be back for Thursday," confirmed Ten Hag.
"Maybe, for the first time as long as I was manager, I can pick a team from the squad that is probably the strongest here."
Atlay Bayindir made his first Manchester United debut yesterday due to Onana's absence as the Red Devils conceded two goals from Newport County but they managed to win with four goals and managed to qualify for the quarter-finals of the FA Cup
Erik Ten Haag also spoke about Bayindir's debut for Manchester United as he said that he was impressed with Bayindir's composure.
"I think it was a composed debut [by Bayindir]. Some good saves, so very composed. I think, overall, he can be happy.
"I was pleased with his performance."
With Onana's return before Thursday, he could replace Bayindir in the lineup to play against Wolves at Molineux stadium this week as the Red Devils hope to win having lost their last two Premier League games.
