The truth is, very many musicians in the Ugandan music entertainment business for a while now have been depending on endorsements from musician turned politician Bobi Wine in order to thrive or have successful concerts in the entertainment industry.
This is utterly because Bobi Wine, over time has turned into a people's favorite more so after he joined active politics. Ugandans not only listen to him but always do even the unimaginable to show their support for him. When it comes to household names one should never tamper with, Bobi Wine is most definitely the biggest deal around here.
We have seen musicians that went against him being marginalized by the majority simply because they are no longer in good terms with Bobi Wine. We all recall the incident where Big Eye star boss was not in good terms with the NUP camp as he belonged to the yellow camp? His music career was washed down the drain and it was only rejuvenated recently after he crossed over to the red camp once again.
Well, there are a few musicians however that are unmoved by such sentiments. At first, it was Alien Skin who went against all odds and shunned Bobi Wine and his fans. Well, even Gravity Omutujju has no kind words for Bobi Wine at all!
The Ugandan rapper has come out once again and made it clear that he doesn’t feel the need to rely on the endorsement of fellow musician and political figure Bobi Wine to succeed in the music industry as his talent alone is enough for him to thrive in the industry.
Via a Tik Tok live video, Omutujju emphasized the fact that he has his own fan base in the industry. Gravity mentioned that however much he respects Bobi Wine, he doesn’t want anyone to be illusions into thinking that his success depends on Bobi Wine's efforts and endorsements.
The relationship between Gravity Omutujju and Bobi Wine has been strained for some time. Even when the pair collaborated on a song dubbed “Batujoozenyo” in 2020, Bobi Wine didn’t actively promote the song upon its release, something that ticked Gravity in the wrong way. Gravity has therefore urged that if there is anyone who needs a boost from Bobi Wine, it is Bobi Wine's brothers themselves as their careers are far from nourished unlike his.
“I’ve heard people saying that associating with Bobi Wine gives you a major boost and that he is the reason I’m doing well, let him first do that for his brothers who are in the music industry.” Gravity Omutujju said
