Singer Edirisa Musuza, better known as Eddy Kenzo strongly opposes his former lover Rema Namakula's opinion of exposing young children to the social media.
Kenzo considers flaunting his child on to the internet a "mistake" that he made in the past and is not willing to repeat.
In a recent interview with Sanyuka Tv, an outlet of Next media services, the Big talent boss stated,
"The mistakes we made when we were young can't be repeated over and over. When you make a mistake, you have to learn and correct yourself."
When asked why he has not disclosed the child he shares with his current partner, Hon Fiona Nyamutoro, the award-winning artist emphasized that exposing young children to social media is not the right approach.
Kenzo acknowledged that his children will eventually be in the public eye, but he believes in protecting them while they are still young. He emphasized the importance of letting them grow a little older before exposing them to social media.
“My children will always be popular in one way or the other, but while they are still at this stage I have to protect them. I have to let them grow a little older,” he said in the video seen by the reporter.
In contrast, Rema Namakula holds the belief that there is minimal harm in showcasing one's children on social media.
Just recently, she defended her choice to feature her 3-year-old daughter, Aaliyah, on various online platforms. According to Rema, it is within a parent's prerogative to raise their child as they deem appropriate.
Rema expressed,
"As long as it is your own child, you have the freedom to nurture them in any way you see fit. If you wish to share their moments online, you have the right to do so. Conversely, if you feel otherwise, then it is perfectly acceptable to refrain from it. After all, it is your child."
Aaliyah, Rema's eldest child with her spouse Hamza Ssebunya, has undeniably made a significant impact within the realm of social media.
A TikTok account in her names has 200k followers, while another on Instagram has over 22k followers.
The accounts feature mostly family fun time photos and videos of the Ssebunyas.
In recent years, there has been a noticeable increase in parents creating social media accounts for their infants, motivated by the urge to share precious moments and memories with loved ones.
Nevertheless, this phenomenon has brought about a range of consequences, encompassing both advantageous and disadvantageous aspects.
