Songsrress Lydia Jazmine has expressed dismay at fellow artistes whom she accuses of being jealous and hateful, something that is frustrating Uganda's music industry.
Jazmine, born Nabawanuka Lydia explained that the reason Ugandan music icons have failed to be successful internationally is because they are selfish and jealous.
During an interview with NBS' After 5 show hosts, Jazmine disclosed how Nigerian artistes had bought her a ticket to Nigeria for a fortnight with all expenses on them.
However, the Corona Virus pandemic stole the opportunity from her as she was hoping to rub shoulders with many influential artistes in Nigeria.
"It cannot be one factor as to why we have failed to shine at the big stage but I will be honest, we Ugandan Artistes do not wish well for one another. It is unfortunate that we are selfish because if you're to compare us with Nigerians or Tanzanians, you will spot a big difference." she said.
She noted how Nigerian Artistes always support upcoming singers untill they make it to the top unlike Ugandans.
She further pointed at a Nigerian, Don Jazzy who manages several big Artistes but sets aside some time for young talent.
Jazmine concluded by calling upon Ugandan Artistes to emulate Nigerians if they were to rise to fame beyond East Africa.
Very few artistes have managed to be famous outside East Africa. Amongst them include Eddy Kenzo, Azawi, Bobi Wine, amongst others
