Amadou Onana hopes to put in good performances at the Euro 2024 tournament in Germany so he can earn a move to a top club.
Amadou Onana played a vital role in Everton's fight against the drop this season as the club finished in 15th place in the Premier league despite receiving an eight point deduction.
Onana's excellent performance in the league has attracted interest from some top clubs. Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona are all interested in the player.
Onana made 37 appearances for Everton in all competitions. He transferred to Everton from Lille in the summer of 2022, the deal was worth £33 million.
Onana heads to the European Championship with 11 caps at senior level for the Belgium national team. Belgium head into Euro 2024 as one of the major nations but they are not considered among the favourites to go all the way.
Amadou Onana said the following to Het Loatste Nieuws;
At previous tournaments you have seen that the players who did well make the step up to the top clubs. That's something I strive for. I feel like presenting myself to the European top and showing what I have to offer. This European Championship is a stage.
The Euro 2024 tournament is currently the best time for Onana to showcase his talent because most of the key players of Belgium's golden generation will be absent. Only Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku and Jan Vertonghen remain in the core squad.
LIVERPOOL INTERESTED IN MBEUMO
Liverpool are interested in signing Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo.
However, Newcastle United are also interested in the Cameroon international. His contract with Brentford runs until 2026 with an option to extend it for one more year.
Mbeumo joined Brentford in 2019 and has made 200 appearances for the club. He has scored 50 goals and provided 42 assists, establishing himself as one of the Premier League's best forwards.
Mbeumo is also open to leaving Brentford, he said the following to L'Equipe;
I spent five seasons at Brentford, in a club that knew how to help me grow and take a step forward. But yes, I want to play in the biggest competitions, in the best clubs. It's still enticing to see some big teams interested in me. We'll see.
He was also asked whether he still has some room for further development, he replied with the following statement;
In percussion, one-on-one. I have qualities for that which I have not yet fully exploited. In the last action too, I must be even more killer, more decisive. I also know how important the side job is. I set up programmes with a sports coach. I am following a virtual reality program that allows me to improve my cognitive abilities. You have to be ready for the seasons to come.
