Bebe Cool Wants Uganda Open by December
    • November 2, 2021 • 3 years ago

Legendary local musician, Moses Ssali alias Bebe Cool, has come out to request the president of Uganda to open up the economy prematurely.

I say prematurely because, he has requested for the economy to be opened before January 2022, a date which president Museveni had already agreed to set the country free from covid 19 restrictions.

Bebe Cool said that the president should open up the arts sector in December such that they can make money since many people in that sector have not tasted a single shilling from their careers since the lockdown was imposed last year in March.

The "Wire Wire" hit maker said that there is no way the people in the arts sector of Uganda can afford to take their children to school which open in January 2022 if they do not make money in December because it is in that month that many realise a lot of revenue arising from different shows at which they perform.

December, a busy month for the arts sector

Comedians, musicians and the likes always make their most money of the year in the month of December because most Ugandans at that time are in spending moods.

Given that the festive season of Christmas is around the same time, most people just want to have a good time, out with their families and this is when they get to attend various events at which the artistes are performing at.

A case in point is the beach bashes that happen on Christmas day, boxing day and the days leading to the new year. These were always a characteristic of the December festive season year in, year out before 2020.

Missing out on the usual year-end events in these unprecedented Corona times of recent actually forced local promoters, Balaam, Abitex and Bajjo to lodge in Gulu in hope of convincing Museveni's brother, Salim Saleh to allow them stage concerts come December 2021.

In particular, Abitex confessed that he was in high spirits to hire all the new talent that came out of lockdown. He said that incase his planned December concerts are accepted to take place, the first musicians for him to contract to sing would be the likes of EeZzy, Mudra Di Viral, An-Known, Victor Ruz and others that rose to fame during the lockdown.
