OGENDA is another of the many revolutionary songs by singer turned politician Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine exposing some of the transgressions, inhumanity and villainy being committed on Ugandans by the current regime.
It’s video highlights the continuing human rights violations, lawlessness & undermining of democracy and the song is inspired by KadongoKamu artiste the late Christopher Ssebaduka. A song that many say has summarized the 36 years of “despot Museveni’s destructive misrule in Uganda”. A one Pius Jadwar via his twitter talked highly of the song;
“A dictatorship which has strangled our Economy with massive corruption, patronage , high cost of doing business, high cost of public administration, a sick healthcare system ,A broken education system. Ultimately the people of Uganda will win”
Affixed to release of “Ogenda”, a Luganda word translated into “You’re Going/Leaving”, Bobi Wine through his social media dedicated it to the president whom he terms as “Dictator Museveni”. Since the conclusion of Uganda’s 2021 Presidential elections, Bobi Wine has been claiming to be the real winner of the disputed presidential election and has all throughout listed demands, including the release of political prisoners and end to abductions.
On the other hand, President Museveni took power in 1986 and is one of Africa's longest-serving presidents. He was accused of crushing the opposition and media ahead of what International media termed as one of the most violent election campaigns in recent years. Despite being a central player in coups, Bobi Wine through “Ogenda” warns President Museveni that, "... those who kill by bullets could follow suit... the guns you use to kill people could take you the very way they brought you."
