Erik Ten Hag will stay at Manchester United and is set to sign a new contract, however, the club decided his future for two and a half weeks.
Ten Hag's future at United was almost assuredly saved by his FA Cup final victory over Manchester City. Otherwise, he was coming off a season that saw Manchester United finish eighth in the Premier League, the club's worst finish in the league since 1989-90.
Ten Hag’s existing Manchester United contract runs until next June, with an option to prolong by 12 months, and they will now enter negotiations about extending those terms.
It was also reported that Manchester United had already decided to sack Erik Ten Hag regardless of the outcome of the FA Cup final. However, after Manchester United defeated Manchester City 2-1, there was an extended period of the club over his future.
It was reported on Tuesday that Manchester United had finally made the decision to continue with Erik Ten Hag, but the club had already made contact with other managers before the decision was made.
It was reported that Sir Jim Ratcliffe held informal talks with Thomas Tuchel over the weekend.
It has also been reported that Manchester United officials met with the representatives of Thomas Frank, the Brentford head coach, on the day they won the FA Cup final.
They met with Thomas Frank's camp on the day of the FA Cup final since they were aware he was a target for Chelsea as well. However, Chelsea decided to go with Enzo Maresca.
Brentford claim they have not received any official approach for Thomas Frank, who also revealed to the public that he won't leave Brentford despite the interest from other clubs.
Thomas Frank said the following;
l am really happy where I am. It is close to being the perfect club to be in. I can see myself being here for many more years. I am close to the owner, to the sports director, to everyone around the club. Brentford is a club where I really feel at home. Immediately I think it is flattering and a recognition in relation to what I do. And I am glad that others are noticing the work we are doing at Brentford. Having said that, what goes on at the club is not a one-man show. I am not going to comment on all the rumours that have been about me. You shouldnt believe everything.
