There are current divisions within the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party.
The divisions arise from conflict of interest on their favorite for the 2026 general elections - with a section fronting first son Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba while another still sticks to President Yoweri Museveni.
The big question however is, who has the power to determine a Presidential candidate within the NRM?
Gen. Salim Saleh, a younger brother to Museveni and uncle to Muhoozi thinks otherwise of the divisions.
He advises that NRM members should stop the divisions which he termed as confusion because the role or choosing the top party leadership lies in the hands of the NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC) and therefore they should respect it.
"When I see the noise around MK and President Museveni, its like you have passed a vote of no confidence in the NRM CEC. Don't drag yourself into such things because its the duty of CEC and not any other person " Gen. Saleh said during the Nakaseke District Local Government End of year party.
He made the remarks as a response to Nakaseke LC5 Chairman Ignatius Kiwanuka who sought guidance on the ongoing debate between the father and his son ahead of the 2026 elections.
