Members of Parliament from Uganda's Karamoja sub-region have officially endorsed President Yoweri Museveni as the sole candidate for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in the 2026 presidential elections.
This endorsement was solidified during a mobilization tour in Moroto town, Moroto district, witnessed by NRM Secretary General Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong.
The meeting saw the participation of 18 out of 25 Karamoja MPs, who expressed their unwavering support for Museveni, citing the relative peace, stability, and inclusion of the Karamoja people in national development as key reasons for their decision.
"We have experienced significant growth and development under President Museveni's leadership," said Hon. Remigio Achia, MP for Pian County. "Our region has seen unprecedented levels of peace and stability, which has allowed us to focus on development and improving the lives of our people. This is why we believe President Museveni is the best candidate to lead us forward."
The endorsement ceremony included the signing of a banner bearing a petition to President Museveni, overseen by NRM Electoral Chairman Dr. Tanga Odoi.
The MPs and district party leaders made a public declaration of their commitment to support and campaign for Museveni as the NRM candidate in the upcoming elections.
Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong praised the unity and resolve of the Karamoja MPs.
"Your support is a testament to the positive impact of President Museveni's leadership in this region. The peace and development seen here in Karamoja is a model for the rest of the country," he stated.
Todwong also highlighted the importance of this endorsement in the broader context of national politics.

John Baptist Lokii, MP for Matheniko County.
