Since their bail grant on Monday, legislators Muhammad Ssegirinya and Allan Ssewanyana's whereabouts have since remained a mystery.
One thing for sure however is, the duo were released from Kigo prison. According to Ms. Justine Nakajumba, the mother to Ssegirinya - the Kawempe North MP is safe and healthy, adding that he is not ready for public engagements.
Without revealing his whereabouts, Ms. Nakajumba said that her son was receiving medication somewhere to ensure he returns to normalcy after over a year in prison.
“My doctor advised me not to speak about these issues (Mr Ssegirinya's release) for health reasons but what I can assure you, Ssegirinya was released and he is in good condition,” Ms Nakajumba said in an interview with a local newspaper at her home in Mengo on Wednesday afternoon.
“If Ssegirinya was not well I would still tell the public as I have always done, he is not with me here (home) but he is safe and being taken care of to ensure that he fully recovers from the prison trauma” she added
Ssegirinya and Sewanyana were granted bail by the High Court in Masaka after 17 months behind bars for masterminding the spate of machete killings in greater Masaka area leaving at least 26 people dead in 2021.
Their release has since raised alot of controversies with many citing back door negotiations between some top officials from the National Unity Platform.
The talk was further fueled by silence from the party leader Robert Kyagulanyi Sentara alias Bobiwine, many citing that he was against the negations that saw the legislators release!
