Most common signs you have entered an expensive bar or restaurant in Uganda

On social media we see posts of big bills in the bar, mouth watering meals. sometimes one may dare to try skip thier league and chill with the big boys. Manytimes people think it's a stunt, but there are bars and restaurants that charge lots of money.

This article gives you check points to know your level before one ends up in a police cell(kitalya) as these places don't need plate washers.

    1. The location

Here in Kampala there are hotspots for bigspenders. Talk about kololo, parts of entebbe, muyenga, Bandali rise Bugolobi to mention but afew.

    2.The name

Once the name of the place you are going to doesn't make sense to your vocabulary or has never appeared in any conversation with your peers, enter at your own risk.

    3. The waiters

If the waiters dress better than you or have the same attire as you. Think twice. You might actually be in a wrong place. Someone may mistake you for staff

    4. The menu or menus

When you take your sit and you have passed number 1 and 2. Look at the menu. Over priced restaurant usually have book or nicely laminted menus. One for drinks another for meals. when you feel like you are revising, chances that you have entered a financial Lions den are high.

    5. The music

When you listen to jazz music, voilins or better yet Isiah katumwas saxophone, just know the wallet must speak volumes. Even others may play African set you may be familiar with but if non of the music has ever ended up on your playlist pack up your belongings and go for home cooked food.

    6. The temperature

The colder the more expensive. If you feel like you are in a fridge and you can't tell where the cold is coming from , my dear you are about to pay the restaurant's taxes, staff salaries and maybe even rent. The cool temperature is meant to calm you down.

    7. Lighting and Decor

When you look at the ceiling and lights are dropping like golden droplets even worse a fountain with the restaurant. Watch out. Tighten your belt when you see different compartments, barricades for VIP with big words like reserved on them, excuse your self osilike. But wait first move to the washrooms, once it's better than your living room with air-conditioning on full blast, you can March out easily. It's allowed

    8.Type of customers

Once you have sat, look left and right but gently not like you are running from something. Then up and down at some of the people next to your tables especially the men. Guage from the shoes to their wrists and know your level. This should not scare alot, as you look further and you see Chinese or idians you are safe. When you see americans, Arabs be sure of the menus or else kabangali (police truck) awaits you.

    9. The parking lot

If you see V8s, G-Wagons and the place is littered with security men dressed in suits directing you to park enter slowy. If the car park is a building, just reverse and go to Mama katogo. The parking fee is only the beginning of your worries.

    10.Mode of payment

When the payment options are many, am talking cash, ATM, MOMO pay etc chances are that you are in  an overpriced restaurant.Plus, they will certainly add VAT.

Above are the most common signs you have entered an over priced restaurant, if non of the above works for you then surely you lie in mecilenious and it may be too late to rescue you from fanancial damage. Just eat the food or sip that drink notoriously and wait for repercussions.
