With just hours after Jacob Oulanyah being announced the new speaker of the 11th parliament under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) card, the ruling party has registered yet another victory.
Honorable Anita Among has also won the deputy speaker post with a landslide victory. Among was contesting against Him. Yusuf Nsibambi and Kampala central MP Hon. Muhammad Nsereko.
To the surprise of many, Nsereko got the least votes, 24, followed by Nsibambi with 37 and came Among in first position with a whopping 415 votes.
This means that NRM has retained both the speaker and deputy speaker positions as it did in the 10th parliament. Where does this leave the opposition?
