The Ugshs 200m availed to members of parliament to procure cars has been the talk of town since yesterday. While many Ugandans are waiting to see what opposition members do, since many had threatened to reject money, National Unity Platform MPs have come out to break the silence.
News reaching our desk shows that an undisclosed amount of money is supposed to be availed by each of the 57 party representatives. While talking to journalists, Nakawa West MP and party spokesperson Joel Ssennyonyi confirmed that each of the members agreed to give a percentage. "We all know that our party iss still a baby and has a lot of ambitions. We pledged to return a certain amount to the accounts of the party to see that these goals are achieved." said Ssennyonyi.
Opposition chief whip, who's also acting as interim party president, John Patrick Nambeshe also confirmed the news and stated that as a party, NUP plans on opening up regional offices and such plans require money, While most members didn't clarify on the amount, we've recieved unconfirmed news that each member is to cough Ugshs 10m.
MPs have however said none has recieved the 200m yet, much as parliament spokesperson Chris Obore has confirmed that each member is going to recieve the money. Time, it will always tell. Let's wait and see how the story unfolds while we keep observing SOPs.
