    • August 10, 2021 • 4 years ago

An 18 year old girl representing the central region of Uganda has been announced winner of the Pearl of Africa star search show, taking all the UGX. 60 million reward

Sandra Nansambu an 18-year-old from Central region won the tightly contested competition.

In her performance, she awed the judges when she was singing Whitney Houston's "Greatest love of all" and she also featured people with disabilities plus children in her performance, something that melted the hearts of the judges since she was being inclusive of everyone in society regardless of disability.

This was done during a final TV show that aired on NBS TV and Sanyuka TV live from Speke Resort Munyonyo last Sunday where finalists included Tony Agami representing Northern Uganda, Ibrahim Balunya representing Eastern Uganda, Sandra Nansambu representing central region.

Sandra the winner however did not win all the 60 million shillings in form of cash but instead won a package worth 60 million. The package includes things like a recording contract, music videos, talent management from Talent Africa music label , tourism trips and ofcourse the cash prize itself that should be not more than 10 million shillings.

So having said this, do not attack Sandra if she is your friend thinking mbu she has money yet the money is tied up in sponsorships.

The show started in April of this year during its launch at Kingdom Kampala. Its aim was to discover and promote brand new musical talent from all corners of Uganda and its from here that over 2000 applicants sent in their applications both physically and via online means.

These applicants were filtered in several episodes of the Pearl of Africa star search with many dropped off the show every week until the final show that had less than 10 contestants.

The final judges of the show were also changed on the last day with Spice Diana, Lydia Jazmine, Ragga Dee and others joining the panel which earlier had only Navio, Joanita Kawalya, Cindy Sanyu and Bismark Amumpire.
