National Unity Platform (NUP) president Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu with a fleet of cars over the weekend tried to hold conventions but these didn't go as planned, as police and the military dispersed the masses with teargas. While talking about the incidents earlier toady, Uganda Police spokesperson CF Fred Enanga asserted that Kyagulanyi and his team were planning illegal meetings and calling masses of people which is still against the Covid-19 regulations.
NUP leaders know very well that conducting such meetings and calling many people is illegal and against the Covid-19 restrictions. Why don't they call those numbers while going to radio talks here in Kampala? Our sources told us they're looking for a spark in form of having one of their members arrested or injured by the police to ignite riots. We know all about that and we shall not be as complacent. - Said Fred Enanga Enanga went on to send a warning to another opposition stronghold FDC and said they'll also be brought to book.
What we did in Lira and Mbale was right in all forms because that's our duty as the police. We're also tracking the Forum for Democratic Party who're also planning the same illegal conventions. - Enanga added. Isn't this a coincidence that these are happening in November? Given the unforgettable things that befell Ugandans in the November riots of last year that saw over 30 innocent people lose their lives?
