Minister of Education, Games and Sports Hon. Janet Kataha Museveni yesterday confirmed in a Twitter thread that all preparations to re-open schools next year are in full gear.
"Regarding the re-opening of schools, you recall that His Excellency the President announced a full re-opening of the economy including schools and institutions in January 2022. Guided by that pronouncement, preparations are being made to open." reads part of the tweet.
The Minister, who doubles as the first lady also hinted on the government helping to work on schools and institutions that are currently in ruins having gone two years while being closed, some being turned into grazing areas while others have anthills literally everywhere.
The president has on several occassions promised to fully re-open the economy come January next year with schools inclusive. However the exact dates when schools shall re-open are yet to be announced, with corridor rumors indicating that the ministry of education is still failing to decide on major issues in line with accomodating the increased number of learners in the same classes.
The Minister finished by thanking various role players including the private sector who have played a big part in ensuring the success of the financial year. It should also be noted that the Private Schools Owners are still waitig for the promised 20bn Ugandan shillings relief fund since last year.
