Yesterday in the morning hours, the media was awash with images and videos of explosions that later came to identified as bombs. The two explosions took place in a space of about 6mins apart at 10am. One happened along the parliamentary avenue near Jubilee Insurance building while the second happened near Central Police Station (CPS) along Bombo Road.
According to the report from police, 6 people were confirmed dead and many are still critical injuries till now. The president as usual was expected to make an address about the incidents and he did through his Twitter account in a long thread where he said that the terrorists,or 'pigs' as he calls them, blew themselves up.
"Today at 10:00hours, some pigs (in reality manipulated and confused Bazzukulu), apparently, blew themselves up, one near the IGG office and the other near CPS. At about 10:30hours, the CMI/Police squads injured and captured the third terrorist in the area of Katooke, Bwaise with his bomb. He, later, died but gave us very good information before dying. His name is Musa Mudasiri." reads part of the president's tweet The president went on to confirm that the two bombers who died on the spot,Mansoor Uthman who bombed CPS and Wanjusi Abdallah who bombed Jubilee house, plus the one who died in Katooke are part of the ADF group that attacked Gen. Katumba in June and thaese are continuing to expose themselves and had been on a run since the General's attacks.
"As I told the country before, by attacking Gen. Katumba, these terrorists, exposed themselves at a time when our security (anti-crime) infrastructure has improved, compared to what it was in 2018 when I made the speech to Parliament. Since the attack on Gen. Katumba, the following has been achieved: - Seven (7) have been killed while resisting arrest; - Eighty-one (81) have been arrested; and - 3 have been killed by the bombs they were carrying." the tweet continues.
The number of terrorists who have been killed since Katumb's attacks as outlined by the president are Nsubuga Mohammed, Manihaji, Moses Mudasiri, Master Lubwama, Juma Saidi, Serwadda Juma and Amin Kawawa Mustapha. The president went on to ask police and other security organs to continue people at entry points to parks, churches, mosques, markets, etc. The president is set to do a national address this week on Friday, should we expect another lock-down? Is curfew going to be tightened or all is well and we should just wait for the country's re'0pening come January?
