Self styled King of the MIC, Edwin Katamba alias MC Kats came out and publicly revealed his HIV status in 2019.
Over the years, the media had reported that MC Kats was HIV Positive even though he declined to publicly speak about it untill two years ago.
The NBS After 5 show Co host opened up on his status at his Celebrity Night at Fame Lounge in Kampala.
He revealed that he was admitted to a hospital in London because his pneumonia was on a whole other level.
“Whoever said I was mad, I was taken into a body machine, a brain-machine and all other processes until the white man said I needed to be discharged because I didn’t have any problem. I refused and told them how they wasted my time because I have pneumonia and AIDS and that it’s what they should help me with,” Kats said.
“So base your abuses towards me knowing I’m on international medication. Abuse me if you can afford me. If you can afford a hospital in London, go treat your AIDS, cancer, and diabetes in London and call me back. That’s the truth. I have all these things documented and I will put them on social media. I told the white man now that you know I’m not mad, treat my HIV and Pneumonia. I’m on medication and I’m not even drinking
During an interview with NBS TV, Kats said that he had lived with the virus for over eight years but all his children and their mothers are negative.
“All my six children and my baby mamas are safe and negative, he said.
Kats further revealed that all this time he has been using herbal medicine to treat the disease but he has realized that they don’t work.
“If you know that you are sick, please go to the hospital and get treatment, herbal medicine alone doesn’t work. People living with HIV should stay strong and take their medication.
How did Kats get infected;
In a recent interview, MC Kats narrated that his children asked him how and when he got infected with the virus and he had no reply because he has no idea.
"My children have grown, one is making 15 the other one is already 18yrs, I jus told them Daddy got sick, he's on medication and he will be fine, don't think he's gonna die, just make sure u never get sick.
When they asked how did you get it or who? That I couldn't answer because I also don't know how I got it..."
However, according to a story published by BigEye.ug back in 2014, it was reported that Singer Fille, who was Kats lover for about six years infected him.
They wrote that at the time Fille met Kats, she was already positive. It’s for this reason that Fille ignored all comments about Kats’ status and chose to have continuous unprotected sex with him because she thought they were of the same status.
In a bid to appear like the innocent girl and make Kats feel guilty, Fille decided to blame him for her HIV infection. A friend had this to say; “Unless of course, Fille is speaking of a re-infection because as far as I am certain, Fille has been positive from way-back when she even dated people like Exodus.”
Kats Now an HIV Brand Ambassador;
Putting all these allegations aside, Since Kats publically confessed to the world, he has been a self appointed ambassador who has always preached against stigmatization.
A week ago, he signed a deal as an AIDS Brand Ambassador at the Uganda AIDs Commission (UAC)

News is that he is in talks to start working with UAC to sensitize the youth about HIV come January 2022, and he will have an office at UAC.
