Kampala, Uganda | The Tororo Archdiocese Development Association of the Laity (TADAL) is set to host a grand fundraising dinner on November 9 to support the renovation of St. Anthony’s Hospital in Tororo. The event will take place at Rivonia Suites in Mbuya, with notable guests including Parliament Speaker Anita Annet Among and Archbishop Dr. Emmanuel Obbo.
Charles Owor, Chairman of the organizing committee, announced, “His Grace Emmanuel Obbo will be the Chief Guest, and the Speaker of the 11th Parliament, Rt. Hon Annet Anita Among, has graciously accepted to be the Guest of Honor. Buy yourself a dinner card as we rebuild our hospital.”
Following the fundraising event, Archbishop Obbo will embark on a pastoral visit to the TADAL virtual parish, starting with Mass on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at St. Kizito Primary School Bugolobi, located behind Silver Springs Hotel.
TADAL was established to enhance the spiritual, moral, and social well-being of Christians from the Tororo Archdiocese, particularly those residing outside its geographical boundaries. Its origins can be traced to a vision shared by key figures, including His Highness Kwar Adhola Moses Stephen Owor and Mzee Gideon, who played pivotal roles in building a supportive community.
Owor noted that the revival of TADAL was initiated by Archbishop Obbo, who emphasized the importance of the laity in fostering spiritual and social development within the Church. This initiative received enthusiastic support from clergy and laity alike, leading to the formation of a new executive committee on May 29, 2022.
The newly elected leadership has since undertaken various activities to solidify TADAL's presence, including drafting a constitution, mobilizing members, requesting a chaplain, initiating monthly Masses, and officially launching TADAL on October 29, 2023.
The launch was presided over by Archbishop Dr. Emmanuel Obbo, with the Minister of State for the Disabled, Asamo, attending as Guest of Honor. The event attracted numerous dignitaries from the Bukedi and Bugisu regions.
Observers note that TADAL is now an active and vibrant organization, significantly contributing to the spiritual and social development of its members while maintaining a strong connection to the Church’s initiatives.
“TADAL exemplifies the immense value of unity, service, and faith among the laity of the Tororo Archdiocese,” stated a representative.
Additionally, TADAL will hold its monthly Mass for members and friends on Sunday, October 27, at St. Kizito Primary School in Bugolobi, with Msgr. Paul Masolo serving as the main celebrant at 11 a.m.
