Transport and roads minister Hon. Katumba Wamala while addressing the media yesterday at the Uganda Media Centre in Kampala called out Ugandans for being so gullible and jokers. The minister was referring to the rumors of the Entebbe Airport being taken over by the Chinese government, after the govenment failing to pay up the loan aquired from the Chinese.
"Ugandans you make a lot of assumptions and you jump onto things that have no conclusions. Who has taken over the airport? I thought the Attorney General labored a lot yesterday to explain this matter but you still find it fun to take about the airport being taken. Who is carrying the airport? Who? The Airport is going no where. Has any of you read the agreememnt?" Asked minister Katumba.
The rumor of the airport being taken over by the Chinese government has been going on for a ehile now, and like most Ugandan info, it normally gets released through the corridors and most times the news tends to be true.
Hon. Katumba went on to clarify that the agreemement does not in any way request for the airport land title as security and the loan has a grace period of 7years which has not yet even started, and a payment period of 20 years.
"You make so many assumptions and you misguide the public and apart from that, you also hurt our relationship with such friendly countries like China." added the Minister. The corridor news says the airport was taken, the govenment officials are saing otherwise. We at Nowviba say, choose your news source carefully.
