Tuli Waweeru! , Kabaka's Daughter Explains Why she Doesn't Speak her Broken Luganda

Tuli Waweeru! , Kabaka's Daughter Explains Why she Doesn't Speak her Broken Luganda
    • January 16, 2022 • 3 years ago

The only child and daughter to the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II and his official wife, has come out to clear the air on her broken Luganda and why she normally speaks only English.

Okay before we proceed, some of you am sure are already confused by me saying she is the only daughter. Yes am in my correct senses because this girl is the only daughter of the Kabaka from his official wedded wife, Sylvia Nagginda also known as the Nnabagereka (Queen Mother) of Buganda Kingdom.

    Now we can proceed...

The girl who is known as Ssangalyambogo told folowers on social media that doesn't speak Luganda all the time because all her followers and fans are not Baganda or Ugandans either.

She says that having friends from allover the world has forced her to make all her communications in a foreign language (English) in order for them to understand her when she speaks.

Does the Kabaka's daughter not know Luganda??

Ssangalyambogo in the past 3 weeks has been a sensational character on the Ugandan online scene because of her Luganda not Lugandering in a certain video she posted on social media.

It is in the clip that she was seen very jolly about the fact that the President had announced lifting of curfew and she carefully crafted the following Luganda words

    "Tuli Waweeru, Tuli Outside"

So as soon as Ugandans heard these, they concluded that the Kabaka's daughter is a huge loss to the Buganda kingdom because of her unfamiliarity with her mother tongue, Luganda.

But she also addressed this a few days ago by denying that she doesn't know Luganda saying that she really speaks it well and has no problem with the language as Ugandans have assumed in the past.

Some naughty Ugandans have also gone ahead to accuse the Buganda kingdom of failing to teach one of their own and forcing them instead to learn Luganda.

    A one Samson Peter Mutaawe had this to say;

    Atuswaaza nyo

Wano maama asiiba atugamba tuyigirize abaana baffe enimi zaabwe naye laba ate owuwe bwali

Amazima bituswaaza Morover a whole princess nga tamanyi lurimi lwe!!! So disappointing

WATCH VIDEO: Ssangalyambogo talks about her Luganda

But even after explaining herself, some people were not yet convinced and categorised her Luganda as foreign since it had British accent written allover it and wasn't sounding pure like the one spoken by Solomon Kaweesi of NTV Uganda.

    So who is to blame

Fingers at this time are not easy to point given that we are talking about the biggest man in Central Uganda however, his daughter's affiliation with the United Kingdom (UK) is partly to blame.

She was born in the UK in the year 2001 and this is where she has been living and schooling up to today which puts her in a position of her Luganda not Lugandering well.
