On Thursday, Twitter accounts that previously had blue ticks as verification marks lost them.
The development came following Elon Musk, Twitter owner's new directive that blue ticks must now be bought by subscribers for 8 Dollars a month.
Only a small fraction of less than 5% of 407,000 profiles affected subscribed for the mark.
In a rather fast turn of event though, a number of celebrities regained their blue ticks, seemingly without action on their part.
Further communication allegedly shows that Musk agreed to return the blue mark to all Twitter Users that had exceeded A million followers.
Among the many Ugandans that have since regained their Blue marks are Singer cum politician Robert Kyagulanyi Alias Bobiwine and notable media houses like DailyMonitor, Newvision among others.
While all this comes in play, many of the previously verified Twitter users have since vowed not to pay for the badges because it comes off as a symbol of support for Musk!
