Uganda are set to face Algeria on Monday at the Mandela National Stadium.

Both teams will be looking to secure the three points in their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign.

Both Uganda and Algeria are locked on six points alongside Guinea and Mozambique in a tightly contested Group G. Dropping any points could be costly to either side.

Uganda defeated Botswana 1-0 thanks to a 74th minute goal from Muhammad Shaban.

Both Uganda and Algeria have the same number of points but due to an inferior goal difference and fewer goals scored, Uganda currently sit third in the group.

    Table
    Group G standings

Paul Put's Uganda Cranes have only lost once in four outings, they have managed to secure two wins and a draw. The defeat came against Comoros by a score of 4-0.

Uganda begun their World Cup qualifying campaign with a 2-1 loss to Guinea in November, followed by a 1-0 victory over Somalia and Morocco.

This will be the third time Uganda and Algeria are meeting. Unfortunately, Uganda lost both the previous two meetings. This occurred during the qualifying stages for the most recent Africa Cup of Nations.

Algeria, under the management of Vladimir Petkovic, suffered their first defeat in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. They were defeated 2-1 on home soil by Guinea.

All the goals in the match were actually scored by Guineans, Algeria's goal during this match was actually an own goal from Yasser Balde. The other two goals were scored by Morlaye Sylla and Aguibou Camara.

Despite losing their most recent match, Algeria secured victories against Somalia and Mozambique in their opening two fixtures.

After a disappointing AFCON campaign, Djamel Belmadi was replaced by Vladimir Petkovic as the  Algeria head coach. The Bosnian born Swiss coach will be under pressure to secure a win in his second competitive game in charge.

    Team News
KCCA forward, Muhammed Shaban, could make the starting eleven after he scored a goal against Botswana as a substitute.

With Bevis Mugabi out of the squad, Halidi Lwaliwa and Isaac Muleme will likely be the two centre backs again.

Algeria are without Riyad Mahrez who was not called up due to a knock.

Houssem Aouar could play in this game since he did not see any action during Algeria's defeat to Guinea.

Islam Slimani, Ramy Bensebaini and Youcef Belali also won't be available for the match.

Algeria are still in poor form despite changing managers, they have just one win in their last six matches. Uganda on the other hand are in better form than Algeria, they have picked up three wins in the last six matches.

Uganda possible starting lineup: Watenga, Bwomono, Lwaliwa, Muleme, Capradossi, Okello, Semakula, Ssekiganda, Mukwala, Mutyaba, Bayo

Algeria possible starting lineup: Mandrea, Atal, Mandi, Tougaii, Ait-Nouri; Bentaleb, Aouar, Brahimi, Benrahma, Benzia, Gouiri
