Prince Omar is popularly known for having the passion to do quality work on any project he lays his hands one. ‘Bajikweka a project he released last year was no exception when it came to the video. We all know he has been releasing music with love as the main course or feel good music but he often uses his voice for a cause too. The video for ‘Bajikweka’ combines two qualities a graphic depiction of political social environment to raise awareness for the way one should be careful when dealing with humans and an abstract footage of the effects of these issues he is trying to explain.
The video, shows the events of the pre election period of 2020 plus other notable social scenes from the previous years. The events are told achronologically, from the rebel NRM MPs begging for reconciliation for campaign money to FDC denying their loyal Nabila from running on their flag for Mayor to the scam marriage of Toro princess Komontale With interludes of Prince Omar in front of many screens having blurry images. There are notable scenes of the dark room with wires and screens as Omar sits and watches people disguising are intertwined with footage of news stories and him tearing news papers at the start a digital that media might not be as honest all the time. He is also seen shedding tears at the end. We also see visuals of rallies against the current economic and political environment in the country.
The video ends with the message that we should wake up. Prince Omar is very clear about her intentions here and he and his director could not have executed this video anymore convincingly. Critics may say that it is too graphic, he underlines his point of needing people to be more honest and realistic . ‘Bajikweka’ is easily one of the best and most impactful music videos I have seen in a long while!
