Kampala is the capital and largest city of Uganda. It is located in the south-central part of the country, on the shores of Lake Victoria. The city has a population of over 2 million people and is a major commercial and transportation hub.

Kampala is a relatively young city, having been founded in the 19th century by the British colonial authorities. However, the area around Kampala has been inhabited for centuries by the Buganda people, who were the original rulers of the region.

The city is known for its seven hills, Mengo hill, Makerere hill, Nakasero hill, Rubaga hill, Namirembe hill, old kampala hill and Kololo hill which are home to many of its most important landmarks, including the Kasubi Tombs, the former burial place of the Buganda kings; the Uganda Museum, which houses a collection of artifacts from Uganda's history and culture; the Rubaga Cathedral, the seat of the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Kampala and many other historic and important landmarks.
