A Pass must have dug his own grave when he came out and called for gatekeeping in the Ugandan music industry, since then, no one seems to be giving him a break regarding his comments as well as his music.
Many musicians have come out with their own views regarding the comment made by A Pass and it seems like many are deeply in favor of the kind of music that has been termed as Bubble gum music. According to a few musicians, there is nothing like bubblegum music but rather there is only music that Ugandans enjoy listening to.
Musician Chosen Blood recently came out and stated that every musician in Uganda has their own audience and therefore every music that is released to the public has a section of people loving it. He then stated that if people choose to like a certain song, no one can take that right away from them.
Musicians that have released songs that have come to be termed Bubble gum music have also retaliated, saying they also tried singing Timeless music like A Pass but Ugandans seemed uninterested in seriousness.
According to Kabako, the music that is being released in the music industry is genuinely fun to listen to and this is why Ugandans are picking interest in this music despite a few creatives having issues with it.
“That music is interesting. It is really interesting. Be honest with me. Isn’t that music interesting to you?” he asked his interviewer while giving a sample of Hozambe and Enkudi the two top trending songs in Uganda currently.
Kabako further stated that in Uganda there are already too many problems and too many serious happenings going on so Ugandans use music to unwind. He stated that this is why artistes should sing songs that will relieve Ugandans of stress, not add to it.
“Do you know how many problems we have in Uganda? Do you know how many serious things are happening in this Country? Ugandans use music as a channel to unwind and relieve stress. How will you feed them on serious music to add to their stress? “ Kabako prompted
Kabako then went ahead to send a word to A Pass, telling him to stop making music for himself for a change and start making music for the people then he will stop complaining about his songs being ignored.
“The good thing is that A Pass is a song writer. He portrays his feelings in every song he writes. However, I want to urge him to stop writing about his feelings and write about the feelings of the fans. That is the best way to get to them,” he stated
