Leone island boss Jose Chameleone believes he has done it all for the Ugandan music industry.
During a vibrant evening in Kampala, the legendary artist performed some of his greatest hits and addressed both his critics and supporters.
Chameleone boldly asked,
"Uganda, what more can I give you? What else do you expect from me? What is the issue? If you were in my shoes, what would you do? I am consistent. Say what you will, but I am confident in my musical abilities," emphasizing his enduring talent and presence in the industry.
Jose Chameleone, born Joseph Mayanja, is a renowned Ugandan Afrobeat artist who has been active in the music industry since 1996. His musical journey is a testament to his dedication, creativity, and resilience.
Chameleone's music career began when he started working as a DJ at the Missouri night club in Kampala in 1996.
This experience exposed him to various genres of music and helped him develop his unique sound. In 1998, he released his debut single "Bageya," which gained moderate success.
Encouraged by this initial success, Chameleone released his first album in 2000, which marked the beginning of his rise to fame. Over the years, he has released 13 albums, each showcasing his growth and evolution as an artist.
Some of his most popular albums include "Mama Mia," "Mambo Bado," "Jamila," "Kipepeo," and "Bayuda."
Chameleone's music is a fusion of AfroBeat, central African rumba, zouk, and reggae, with lyrics in Luganda, English, and Swahili. His unique sound has captivated audiences across East Africa and beyond. Some of his most popular songs include "Valu valu," "Jamila," "Shida za d," "Bayuda," "Tatizo," "Nkwagala nyo," "Kipepeo," "Dorotia," and "Champion."
Throughout his career, Chameleone has collaborated with various artists, including his brother Pallaso, and has won numerous awards, including the prestigious HiPipo Music Awards and the Uganda Music Awards. He has also performed at various international festivals, including the CCTV Africa Music Festival in China.

In February of the year 2023, the musician Chameleone hosted a highly successful concert named "Gwanga Mujje", which translates to "let the entire nation come".
The concert was held at Lugogo Cricket Oval in Kampala after being rescheduled to 24 February 2023 due to heavy rain, despite being originally planned for an earlier date.
Furthermore, Chameleone arranged a charity event named "One Man, One Million" at Victoria Hall in Kampala, which was completely sold out.
This event, supported by the first lady of Uganda, Janet Museveni, required attendees to pay one million Ugandan Shillings for entry.
In addition to his music, Chameleone is also known for his philanthropic efforts, particularly in the areas of education and healthcare.
He has supported various charitable initiatives, including the construction of a school in his hometown and donations to hospitals and orphanages.
