Recently, musician Zafaran shook the internet up after she stated that the Ugandan entertainment industry is not an easy forte, more so for rising female musicians that are seeking relevance through collabos.
Zafaran stated that many female artistes you see collaborating with established male artistes have been caught up in situations one would seem unthinkable. Zafaran stated that some (and by some I mean most) male musicians ask for “penalty kicks" in order to grant female rising musicians collabos.
Just when Zafaran stated this, an upcoming artiste named Sencere music and slapped allegations against musician Dr. Jose Chameleone, stating that he requested to visit her Namboole Stadium in exchange for a collaboration and when she refused, he did the collabo with her but refused to promote the song hence it saw a flunk
In regards to asking for sexual favors in exchange for music collaborations, legendary musician David Lutalo has come out to state that his conscience is clear and he has never asked any woman for an explicit moment just to release a collaboration with her.
He gave an example of Martha , saying he has a collabo with her as well but has never even asked her for anything in return. David emphasized that music is music and sexual pleasure is also another thing so the two should never be put together.
“I also have a collabo with Martha. I have never asked her for anything. In fact, I have many collabos with female musicians but I have never asked for anything sexual from them in exchange for collaborations.” He stated
David Lutalo went on to comically add that unless a female musician seems it fit to appreciate him by giving him an explicit moment, he would not ask for it himself.
“Well, unless they are the ones that want to give me Spice, I can not ask for it. It is upon them. If they want to, who am I to refuse?” David stated amidst gusts of laughter.
This debate has also turned into a hot topic online and netizens are wondering whether every successful collabo they have seen between a male and female musician came as a result of a football match between the pair.
Whereas some netizens believe this to be highly true, some are still unconvinced, saying Zafaran was only speaking of her personal experience and she included other female musicians just so as to validate her statement.
