The sad demise of the Kawempe North Member of Parliament Muhammad Ssegirinya still lingers in the hearts of Ugandans as well as his fellow party members. Having struggled through the streets and finally making it to a huge seat in Parliament, he was enthusiastic about every thing he was meant to achieve as a leader for his constituency.
All this however was cut short by his arrest which seems to have been the major factor in his ailment, later leading to his demise. It is however believed that his rise to a big position in Parliament was because of none other than NUP President Bobi Wine.
This has further been confirmed by a video making rounds on social media, where his siblings state that one of Ssegirinya’s wishes was for his family as well as his mourners to thank Bobi Wine for enabling him to fulfill his wish of rising to a big seat in the Parliament of Uganda.
The video further discloses that among the last wishes of the late Muhammad Ssegirinya, Bobi Wine the head of NUP should speak at his funeral for five good hours and should he have anything more to say, he is allowed extra time without question.
While speaking at the Vigil held at the NUP party headquarters of Makerere Kavule, Bobi Wine said that however much it be true that the late Ssegirinya had a special request that he should speak for five hours nonstop, he instead will speak for one hour at all the five vigils of Ssegirinya to make a total of the requested five hours.
“My brother Ssegirinya requested that I speak for five hours in case he died before me. I will however not speak for five hours non stop but rather, I will speak for one hour at each of the mourning ceremonies to make it a total of five hours as requested by our late brother” said Bobi Wine.
Given the brotherly bond between NUp President Bobi Wine and the late Honorable Muhammad Ssegirinya, it is no surprise that Bobi Wine was willed to give a five hour speech at the late Member of Parliament's funeral.
Some Political stakeholders even go ahead to argue that if it was not for the NUP President, The late Ssegirinya was not going to take the political stairs but rather stay in minimal positions like the 'Lord Counsilor of Kawempe' position he held before winning the NUP Ticket.
It is indeed a pity that the Country lost Honorable Muhammad Ssegirinya so soon. May his Soul continue resting in peace.
