Sarah Namagambe, a senior official of the Electoral Commission of Uganda has defended the police tear gassing and man handling opposition candidates in an interview.

" All candidates standing for any position ought to follow the guidelines we laid for them because of the pandemic. Mass gatherings are not allowed and these processions will not take place. If any candidate wants to communicate, they should use any form of media available such as TV, radio or social media."

She also added that Ugandans should trust them with the handling and printing of the ballot papers to be used in the elections.

Several opposition candidates such as Amuriat Patrick of FDC, Robert Kyangulanyi of NUP and Norbert Mao of DP have been seen on camera being harshly treated by the police.
