Ugandan musician Fik Gaza, born Shafik Dangote recently came out to assure his fans to be in anticipation of a collabo song between him and Nigerian superstar Davido. When Davido came to Kampala for his “Timeless concert" at Kololo Independence Grounds, it was highly expected that he was going to meet many Ugandan Musicians vying for a collaboration.
The day saw many musicians dying to take pictures close to Davido, among these being the Mayanja brothers, Grenade Official , female musician Nina Roz as well as our man Fik Gaza.
Several of these Ugandan artists performed on the same stage with the Nigerian artist and their performances were indeed powerful and eccentric( who wouldn’t give their all while sharing the stage with one of the greatest Nigerian musicians)?
Well, musician Fik Gaza has now come out to claim that when he met aand interacted with Davido, the “aye” singer humbly requested a collaboration with him. The same story goes for when Jamaican Star Konshens stepped foot in Uganda for his recently concluded concert. Fik Gaza says that even Konshens asked him for a collabo and he gladly accepted.
Fik Gaza makes it a point to note that these famous musicians are the ones that approach him first and ask for collaborations and he has not turned even one down. In regards to Davido, Fik mentioned that the song is even already being worked on and Davido is busy doing his part in the song while Fik Gaza is working on his own part of the song.
“Yes, I did accept to have a collabo with Davido. It’s he who requested a collabo, not me. Yes. he requested to collaborate on a song with me. The song is actually already in the pipeline and he is working on his end, just like I am working on mine. Just like Konshens asked for a collabo, even Davido approached me for one. I could never say no to that!” Fik Gaza told Spark TV during an interview on the Daily Soup show.
According to Fik, he doesn’t need to follow big musicians around asking them for collabos as they also recognize talent and hard work. He emphasized that he relies on his hardworking so much that he will live to see many more big name musicians seeking him out and asking for collaborations.
“This means we are not only talented but we are also working hard and I am hopeful that many more musicians asking for collaborations will come flooding soon,” he stated
