In their most recent interview, the singing duo of the Ugaboys have boldly asserted that Uganda's music industry lacks certified songwriters ever sincer Mowzey Radio died.

Radio died on 1 February 2018 at Case Hospital in Kampala, Uganda from a blood clot in his brain sustained in a bar brawl in Entebbe a few days earlier. He was laid to rest at Kagga-Nakawuka in Wakiso District.

At the time he breathed his last, Radio was one of the most recognized singers and songwriters in the country.

    Rad
    Late Mowzey Radio

He wrote over 230 songs in a 10-year career, averaging more than 22 songs a year such as: “Ability", "Akapapula", "Bread and Butter”, “Juice Juicy", "Lwaki Onnumya", "Magnetic", "Mr DJ", "Mukama Talya Mandazi", "Ngenda Maaso", "Nyambula", "Nyumbani", "Obudde", "Potential", "Sitaani", "Zuena", "(Tukikole) Neera" and plenty of other songs.

Like the gift that keeps on giving, his ability to create magic was endless. There seemed to be an urgency in him to make music, as if he realised he would not be on earth for so long. So he had to find a way of staying alive before he checked out to be with the Lord. And music ensured that when he was gone, he never left.

Now, according to the Ugaboys, the numerous self-proclaimed songwriters in the country do not meet the expected standards for delivering quality work.

The duo pointed the need for these writers to seek assistance in their craft, rather than claiming to be professional songwriters when their services do not meet the required quality.

As if that is enough , they highlighted that these writers should not feel entitled to awards, as they do not deserve them and should be returned to their rightful owners.

The Ugaboys specifically praised the late Mowzey Radio for his exceptional songwriting skills, noting that his work stands out among the rest.
