News coming out of other regions in Uganda is that some district health officers are forcing Ugandans especially medical workers such as nurses to get vaccinated.
Initially, vaccination was a choice and one would have to sign a consent letter showing they did take the vaccine willingly and will not sue the government in case of any side effects.
"Forcing one to take the vaccine is enough basis and evidence for them to sue the government in case this vaccine back fires. No one should be forced to be vaccinated. It goes against one's human rights and this shall not be tolerated."
The above statement was made by Dr. Richard Idro, the president of the Uganda medical association (UMA).
The ministry of health today reported that the vaccines that were received would soon expire in June.
Over 300,000 vaccines have so far been used out of the 900,000 vaccines that were given to Uganda.
It has been recorded that over 900 Ugandans are being vaccinated on a daily basis.
Countries like South Sudan had to destroy their vaccines after they expired before being used by the people.
