Alex Muhangi Secretly Holds Comedy Store Event, Saving Mariachi and Others From Lockdown Hunger

Last Friday evening was a joyous one for some of the comedians in Kampala. This was during a secretely organised Comedy Store show at Speke Resort Munyonyo.

Yes! Forget about these online things that everyone has been feeding us with since Late March this year, this show was very physical with real human beings in attendance.

The audience was limited to members of staff of the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic development after a week-long retreat at the luxurious hotel together with a few invited guests.

So there was no kavuyo (disorganised activities) at the entrance concerning things like entry fee and so on but the comedians instead found their audience already waiting for them.

Given the background of the stage on which the comedians were doing their thing, one would think it was a real pre-covid Comedy Store event at the UMA show grounds like it usually is.

Some of the notable comedians include Mariachi, Teacher Mpamire, Daniel Omara,  Madrat and Chico who cranked up the audience with joke after joke and many of them were happy about working on Friday saying that at least they have been saved from lockdown hunger!

Besides the comedians, we also had some musicians like Sheebah Karungi appearing on a stage before a big audience for the first time in months.

Apart from scientific weddings, kwanjulas and small small baby showers , this could be the first event to have brought entertainers back on stage after a whooping seven months.
