StarTimes Uganda Premier League 2022/23 season champions Vipers Football Club yesterday announced the signature of Uganda Cranes attacking midfielder Allan Okello on a three year contract.
The Venoms got Okello as a free agent, having mutually terminated his contract with Algerian side Paradou AC. The 23year old rose to fame as a teeneager, rising through the ranks at KCCA FC, having been part of the club's academy.
In February 2017, Okello made his senior debut for KCCA at the MTN Philip Omondi stadium where he scored a hatrick against Onduparaka in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League, thus introducing himself to the Ugandan football scene
Before joining Paradou AC in 2020, Okello played 119 games for KCCA FC, scoring 39 goals and winning the 2016/17 and 2018/19 UPL campaigns respectively. He then joined Paradou AC on a 4year contract but things didn't move on well and he had to return to KCCA on loan last season.
Having put pen to paper yesterday, Okello had this to say; “I am so happy to join Vipers Sports Club! I am so excited to be here at this big club and l didn’t have to think twice when Vipers called me, l just knew l wanted to sign for the club. I can’t wait to get started with the team.”
The fans for both Vipers FC and Uganda's football fraternity have since his emergence on the national scene had high hopes in Okello and while some seem sceptical about his Vipers move, many are confident he will shine, as that's what he's meant to do.
