Swangz Avenue superstar singer Priscilla Zawedde commonly known by stage name Azawi has of 09th October 2023(on Uganda's independence) dropped her long waited second 16-track album tittled Sankofa.
Sankofa is an African word from the Akan tribe in Ghana meaning we should retrieve things of value from our knowledge of the past.
The anticipated Sankofa Album was first exclusively previewed during a hosted private gathering by Azawi herself for her beloved fans and media where she dissected through the album before its official release.
The special event happened at Kibo Lounge in Naguru presenting understanding into several origins of inspiration behind songs featured on the album.
The Anticipated album showcases a total of seventeen songs namely; 1: Sankofa Intro, 2: Champion from Africa, 3: Egaali, 4: Summer Bae (ft Konshens), 5: Brand New, 6: Njagala Vibe(ft Sauti Sol), 7: Harder (ft Elijah Kitaka), 8: Infinity, 9: Elevated (ft Elijah Kitaka, Mike Kayihura & Bensoul), 10: Lucky Day, 11: Married Man, 12: Worship, 13: Outside, 14: Money, 15: Omwenge, 16: My God, 17: Ten Over 10 as a Bonus.
In her fourth track titled “Summer Bae,” Azawi collaborates with Jamaican dancehall sensation Konshens, as well as Kenya’s renowned musical group Sauti Sol on her sixth track titled “Njagala Vibe.”
Elijah Kitaka, who shares a label with Azawi, was featured on two of her tracks, namely Harder and Elevated. Additionally, Elevated also featured the musical contributions of Mike Kayihura and Bensoul.
Sankofa has been released and is now available for purchase at all music retailers.
