It has become common for musicians to engage in the politics of a country in this era hence it is no news that musicians have started getting involved more in politics, mostly by singing campaign songs for the cabdidates they are vying for. Wasafi boss Diamond Platinumz is recorded to have campaigned for Raila Odinga in the recently concluded Kenya presidential elections.
Events organiser Balaam Barugahare has previously worked with a host of local artists on music projects campaigning for President Museveni and ofcourse there have been musicians who have been tirelessly working with the government and among them is Gagamel boss Bebe Cool.
Through his Facebook page on Thursday afternoon, the Radio 4 proprietor Balaam noted how Tanzanian famous singer Diamond Platnumz has composed a song for the Ugandan president, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
“Thank You Diamond Platinum for the New Classic hit for Mzee Yoweri Kaguta Museveni." He posted.
Despite not revealing further details regarding the new project, Balaam’s post immediately attracted reactions from netizens most of whom desired to know more about the song. If at all he was planning on catching people's attention, he really did because for a long time now, Diamond Platinumz has been a favorite even here in Uganda for very many people.
Other Facebookers, however, decided to take him down memory lane on how the last person who hired Diamond to record a song for them miserably failed in their bid for the presidency. This was a taunt that even when diamond does sing a campaign song for the president, he will lose because of Diamond's bad luck. What they did was actually trying to downplay the piece of news from Balam because they are unsure whether he is bluffing or being honest about the song.
Sit tight as we shall keep you updated on this project, if it really does exist .
