The Coca-Cola Company in Uganda has finally donated something that Ugandans can be happy about.
People in the country particularly the customers of the giant soda company were not happy when they received news of the company only contributing 187 empty Jerry cans at the start of the lock down period during one of the president's first Covid address sessions.
They said all sorts of things such as promising never to purchase any product belonging to Coca-Cola because they have supported the company for too long yet the empty jerry cans were not worth their loyalty.
In defence of the donation, Coca-Cola itself came out and tried to explain the use of the empty Jerry cans through their Kidomola challenge on social media only to receive more hostility from the already angry Ugandans.
official Coca-Cola Uganda tweet on the challenge :
In our Handwashing intervention – what some people called empty jerrycans – we are setting up Handwashing facilities to increase public hygiene countrywide, with the @MinofHealthUG #KidomolaChallenge #StaySafeUg #Fightcoronatogether #CokeCommunity #COVID19 @Conradjvn @RuhakanaR

But a few days later, the PS of MOH, Dr Diana Atwine came out and cleared the air saying that the company was among the first to contribute towards Covid before others started and that the donations the president read out about Coca-Cola were not complete.
This week on Wednesday, the company showed the public that it still has the financial muscle to make a gigantic contribution towards the Covid 19 cause.
Staff from the beverage company handed over a dummy cheque showing a total sum of UGX.1.3 billion to the prime minister of Uganda, Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda at the Office of the Prime Minister headquarters in Kampala which totalled up all the recent donations they were giving to the government.
On top of that the company handed three brand new Nissan Type double cabin pick ups which is in line with what the President of Uganda requested big companies to do for him, the donation of cars.
