Christian Eriksen has claimed Manchester United players will take the blame for their 4-0 loss at Crystal Palace on Monday night.
The Red Devils(Manchester United) encountered their worst loss of the this campaign at Selhurst Park yesterday night, falling to goals from Jean-Philippe Mateta assisted by Chris Richards in the 40th minute, Tyrick Mitchell and two from summer transfer target Michael Olise both assisted by Daniel Munoz in the 12th and 66th minute respectively.
Erik Ten Hag was censorious of his players in his post-match press conference, and the Danish international Eriksen agreed that those on the field simply weren't good enough and should not hide behind the excuse of the first-team's injury crisis.
"A big disappointment. We just had an off-day and we weren't in it," Eriksen told BBC Sport. "It is what it is. We can't really change the injury things. We have to do what we can on the pitch to change it. Today it didn't matter who we played. Everyone could have done better.
"I don't know what the conclusion is for how it went. We weren't good enough.
"We tried to do what we could but we were not good enough. We'll take the blame as players."
Manchester United were without many key players including their Portuguese Captain Bruno Fernandez, due to injury, while their gaffer Erik Ten Hag was forced to use a makeshift defence compromised of two right-backs in Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, midfielder Casemiro and 36-year-old Jonny Evans.
Manchester United is now in cautious danger of missing out on European qualification having dropped to the eighth position of the Premier League Standings, with Chelsea and Newcastle United passed them following respective wins over the weekend.
Manchester United will host Newcastle on Wednesday 15th next week after taking on the table leaders Arsenal this weekend on Sunday, whereas they end the campaign with a tough trip to Brighton in their American Express Stadium where Manchester United have managed to get only three wins.
If the odds don't favour them, Manchester United could finish the season in the bottom half of the table their lowest finish in the Premier League era to date is seventh.
Manchester United have conceded eighty-one(81) goals in all competitions this season, their most in a single campaign since 1976-77, with their makeshift defence run-ragged at Selhurst Park as Casemiro was exposed at centre-back.
