For as long as we can remember, musician Cindy Sanyu has been the leader of the Uganda Musicians Association even before it broke into two with the secession of the Ugandan National Musicians Federation which is led by Musician Eddy Kenzo.
Cindy Sanyu for a long while now has been at logger heads with Kenzo's federation and the scuffle has lasted almost a year now. Honestly, everyone believed that this scuffle was soon to come to an end after Cindy and Kenzo were seen on a round table discussing issues concerning the Association and the Federation.
Cindy later came out to mention that the round table discussions were leaning towards finding a way to include the musicians under the Association led by Cindy on the monetary budget of the money that was received by the Federation (led by Kenzo ) for Ugandan musicians.
It seems however that Cindy and Eddy Kenzo are not about to bury the hatchet any time soon as Cindy still has bad blood with Eddy Kenzo over the shame that he and other musicians put her through. According to Cindy, this shame was too bad to bear that she nearly quit leadership of the association.
In an interview with a local you tuber, Cindy explained that a meeting was organized by General Salim Saleh to have a discussion with all artist leaders, including those from UNMF and UMA. To Cindy's dismay however, the UNMF musicians embarrassed her in front of Saleh and denied her leadership. They all claimed not to know her as a leader and further accused her of being unavailable when needed.
What angered Cindy the most was the fact that she had met them just a day before this meeting with General Salim Saleh and they had agreed on many important things yet they blind sides her and betrayed her just like that!
"I really felt embarrassed because these guys said they don't know me as a leader of musicians and revealed I am unreachable. They said that my phones are always off when needed. Imagine we met with them a day before the meeting and agreed on a few things but denied all that when we reached there," she said
Cindy Sanyu has revealed that after being embarrassed by Kenzo and other musicians in in this particular meeting, she thought about quitting UMA to concentrate on her music career but she was stopped by fellow musician Phina Masanyalaze and other members from UMA who begged her to continue leading UMA.
"I thought about quitting after the embarrassment in that particular meeting, but I found Phina Masanyalaze at the office with other members waiting to talk to me. They told me that I shouldn't be quitting because that was never the solution," she stated.
