In a bid to challenge the cooperation pact between President Museveni and Nobert Mao, Democratic Party ( DP ) members have filed a petition in the constitutional court against Mao.
The petitioners include six resentful members of DP who include Richard Lumu, Michael Lulume, John Paul Lukwago Mpalanyi, Fortunate Rose Nantongo, Richard Sebamala and Fred Kayondo.
These petitioners are honorable members of Parliament representing Mityana South, Buikwe South, Kyotera County, Woman MP Kyotera, Bukoto Central and Mukono South Respectively.
According to the six, DP Party president Nobert Mao signed a cooperation agreement with Museveni’s NRM party without consulting them aswell as other party members. They disagree with the fact that he signed on the party's behalf to support the NRM Government's agenda and supporting Parliamentary votes on matters of confidence so they now want him to hand over their party presidency.
According to their petition, Hon. Nobert Mao, now minister of Constitutional Affairs, Dr Gerald Siranda and the Attorney General are the respondents to this petition!
