Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) recently bid farewell to its long-serving Managing Director, Varghese Thambi, marking the conclusion of a remarkable 17-year tenure. Thambi, who joined DTB in 2007, leaves behind a legacy of transformation and growth, having significantly expanded the bank's footprint and services across Uganda.
In a formal send-off, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Uganda, Michael Atingi-Ego, applauded Thambi's contributions to the banking sector.
"Varghese Thambi has been instrumental in the transformation of DTB from a modest network of three branches to a robust system of 37 branches nationwide," Atingi-Ego noted.
He praised Thambi for his strategic vision and resilience, particularly during challenging periods such as the global financial crisis of 2008 and the more recent COVID-19 pandemic.
Thambi’s tenure at DTB has been marked by a series of significant achievements.
