With less than a week to election day, tempers are raising in different camps as warnings are also being passed to curb any violence that might prevail during the day.
The electoral commission chairperson recently came out and warned Ugandans to desist from keeping around polling stations after casting their vote as this might increase chances of spreading covid-19 and also cause violence.
He further more warned candidates telling people to converge around polling stations after voting that they risk losing votes. "If you are to encourage voters to stay around, be careful you might end up losing votes as a candidate.
You're not allowed to take pictures of ballot papers that day. Not even the media will be allowed within the polling area." Said Byabakama. The commission also passed a condition that all agents of contesting candidates MUST present certificates of their covid-19 tests.
Yesterday during his campaign in Namisindwa, National Unity Platform flag barer Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu rubished Byabakama's words and said there's no law broken when a voter stays to witness vote counting.
He instead encouraged people the more to go vote and stay around to watch the vote counting. It seems 14th is going to be one hell of a day.
