Last week, the Uganda People's Defence Force (UPDF) sent a fleet of soldiers in the Democratic Republic of Congo to hunt down the Alied Democratic Force (ADF) terrorists who are believed to be hiding in the Congo forests.
The ADF are accussed of being the master mind behind the recent bombings that happened in different parts of the country that saw the loss of lives, people getting severe injuries and property destroyed. This move by the governmet to send the army in the Congo to hunt down the ADF has been highly criticised by many people, while others have come out to advise on how the issue should be approached.
Former presidential candidate and Forum for Democratic Change president Col. Dr. Kiiza Besigye has come out not to call off the move but to rather advise the government on how it should handle the situation. According to Dr. Besigye, the use of force by the army won't help the situation but will rather make it harder to catch the terrorists.
"I want to request the government of Uganda to desist from using forceful means in form of amunition an bombings as they embark on hunting down the ADF terrorists. Government should instead go formal and engage the terrorists into peace talks. We all know that you can't aproach such people with force and expect to yield results. It will rather make them grow a tough skin." Said Dr. Besigye.
This comes a few days after a clip showing the UPDF fire at suspected ADF terrorists that trended on social media.
