Esther and Ezekiel, a young singing duo who double as sister and brother respectively have come out to beg for their $50,000 that they won exactly 2 years ago.
The two who maneuvered through all the stages at the East Africa has got talent (EAGT) competition to reach the final stage and thereafter become winners have never received a coin from the event's organisers.
They say that soon after the competition was concluded in Nairobi, Kenya in October of 2019, the organisers promised to wire cash to the tune of over fifty thousand US dollars to their bank account which is over UGX. 180 million when converted to Ugandan currency.
To make things worse, the two youngsters who were actually the youngest in the competition in comparison to other artists had already planned on how to spend the money once they win it.
How did Esther and Ezekiel plan to spend their USD 50,000
In an interview with the New Vision, days after making Uganda proud at the EAGT, the two presented a basket of plans for their prize money.

But all this came to a standstill once the dust about their success settled and by this I mean people had stopped talking about them and moved on to other things.
This is when things turned sour for them and the poor children being humble enough, kept quiet for a number of months, even saw 2019/20 fireworks..
They kept their lips sealed until rumours about their nonpayment started to trickle in early this year and its only this week that they confirmed dining with poverty for over 24 months as they patiently waited for their gu money, in this case not "ka money".

Museveni meets Esther and Ezekiel
During the same year (2019) where they won the talent competition which was hosted by our very own Gaetano Kaggwa ? (don't ask me why am laughing), Uganda's president Museveni met the duo at an event.
The two sang a very sweet song which awed our president at the International Conference on Tax in Africa which was held at the Kampala Serena Hotel where the president was the chief guest.
Museveni took to social media and said this; “Met my bazukulu Esther and Ezekiel at Serena Conference Centre today. They sang a beautiful song titled “Africa”. Again, I congratulate them on their recent success at the East Africa Has Got Talent competition.”
So after such close interaction with the president, one would think that Esther and Ezekiel were already in possession of the cash or atleast the president would speed up the cash's processing but little did we know that their smiles were in vain.
