Uganda Cranes captain Emmanuel Okwi is set to miss Uganda Cranes last qualifying match against Niger come 7th/September/2023 in Morocco. Okwi is currently nursing an injury and his absence will be a big blow to the squad.
Despite having last scored for Uganda Cranes in 2019 while Uganda won 2-0 against Malawi, Okwi's experience was going to play a vital role in the result against Niger come 7th September in Marakech - Morocco.
Uganda has been having goals scarcity over the years despite having a number of quality players upfront. With Okwi absent and with a MUST win match, many Ugandans are left in suspense. Uganda Cranes to qualify has to win their match against Niger and pray for Tanzania to lose against Algeria.
While speaking to the press about the issue, CAF coaches instructor Mujib Kasule expressed his concerns too. "It's a big blow not having Okwi in the team. This is a very big game that needs experience and Okwi brings that to the team,"
The team will now have to rely on Fahad Bayo, Frank Ssebufu, Ibrahim Kasule, Richard Basangwa among others.
