Ugandas First son Lieutenant General Muhoozi Kainerugaba has been sued for his recent countrywide 48th birthday celebrations that have since been interpreted as the start of a succession process that will end up with him replacing his father President Museveni as President.
According to advocate Gawaya Tegule, the petitioner of the case, its unconstitutional for an active serving officer of the UPDF - Uganda Peoples Defense Forces to start engaging in political moves and activities. Mr Tegule says active officers like Gen Muhoozi are expected to be non partisan. In the same petition that was filed before the constitutional court in Kampala on Thursday last week, Tegule also wants Court to declare the alleged political schemes by Muhoozi unconstitutional. He further wants court to condemn the silence and inaction he interprets as approval or sanctions by the UPDF.
Likewise, the attorney General Kiryowa Kiwanuka has also been sued for his alleged failure to give proper legal advise and guidance to the UPDF specifically Gen Muhoozi.
