The Bishop Emeritus of Hoima Catholic Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Albert Edward Baharagate Akiiki has passed on at Nsambya Hospital.
He was reinstated as the Hoima Diocese Bishop on July 7, 1969 and only resigned in 1991. He had earlier been been ordained priest on December 7, 1958.
He was one of the 12 Bishops who were consecrated on August 1, 1969, by Pope Paul VI during his visit to Uganda.
During his first days of the reign as HoimDiocese Bishop, Baharagate was assisted by Late Archibishop Sergio Pignedoli, Titular Archibishop of Iconium and Late Archibishop Emmanuel Kiwanuka Nsubuga, then of Kampala Archdiocese.
Following his retirement over 30 years ago, he has since served in various positions among which include Being National Chairman for the Uganda Redcross Society.
